BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS PROGRAM 2010-11

GENERAL INFORMATION

GAME SITE:  Freestate Indoor Sports Arena, 5811 Allender Rd, White Marsh, MD, 21162.  Arena phone 410-335-6400.  Visit their web site at www.freestatesports.com. 

DIRECTIONS TO FREESTATE ARENA:  From the Baltimore Beltway (I 695), take Exit 33 onto I 95 North (Kennedy Hwy).  Get off at Exit 67A and proceed EAST on Route 43 (White Marsh Blvd) about 2/3 mile to Route 40 EAST (Pulaski Hwy).  Go about 1 and 1/2 miles EAST on Pulaski Hwy to Allender Rd (second traffic light) and turn left.  Go 1/8 mile.  The arena is on your left.

FEES:  The team fee is $ 2400, which includes payments to referees, referee assigner, score keepers, trainer, arena field rental, 6 lax balls, and other Fastbreak Lax operating expenses.  TEAMS PROVIDE THEIR OWN JERSEYS.  A minimum deposit of $ 500 is to be included with the application to hold a place for your team.  The final balance of $ 1900 is due by Tuesday, October 5th.  SEE TEAM APPLICATION FORM FOR PAYMENT DETAILS. 

ON THE FIELD:  Six-on-six.  Five line players and a goalie; players run both ends of the field (like basketball); 1 defensive player (usually the goalie) remains in his half at all times; two 20-minute halves; running time; one 30-second timeout per team per half; no long sticks.

THE TEAMS:  VARSITY "A" level is for the strongest school and club teams (such as the MIAA-A Conference and top public schools) and VARSITY "B" level is for school and club teams which cannot compete successfully at the A level, but which have players with good stick skills.  There is also a JUNIOR VARSITY "A" level and a JUNIOR VARSITY "B" level with the same description as the varsity.  Please note that a person cannot play at our indoor JV level if he has already played varsity at his respective school.  Also, JV players cannot be in grades 11 or 12 during the 2010-11 school year.

GAME DATES 2010-11 (TENTATIVE)

NOTE:  Teams will play on Saturday and/or Sunday from October 23rd through October 31st due to the roller hockey program's using field #2.  Until November 7th, only field #1 will be available for games.  From November 7th on, we will have two fields, and all games will be played on Sundays.

BYES:  Each team will receive 1 practice, nine scheduled games, plus our annual in-house tournament.  There are 4 game dates during the season in which a team will not have games, which means that 4 byes will be worked into each team's schedule.  The coaches and/or organizers will select 3 bye dates, and Fastbreak Lax will choose the 4th one.  KEEP IN MIND THAT SEVERAL OUTDOOR TOURNAMENTS OCCUR DURING OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER, and many of your players could be involved with these tournaments.  Before choosing your 3 byes, try to find out if your players will participate in one or more of these outdoor tourneys.  It is very difficult - if not impossible -  to re-schedule any postponed games, so please check out your dates carefully.
